At SynSense we design the next generation of AI processors — ultra-low-power (µW to mW) for IoT, embedded and mobile devices. We are also designing smart sensor modules, combining sensing and computation in tiny low-power packages.
Our Applications team has an immediate opening for an CV Applications Engineer, to build low power CV applications and contribute to the design of next generation smart vision sensors.
Required qualifications
- Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar background and experience
- Expert coding skills (Python and C++)
- Proven record in Computer Vision and Machine Learning
- Hands on experience with the whole pipeline of CV applications: data collection, model building, deployment
- Good spoken and written English ability
Desired qualifications (not required, but beneficial)
- PhD qualification in applied mathematics, computer science or similar
- Industrial experience as a ML Engineer
- Experience and knowledge of Signal Processing
- Experience with event based cameras or Spiking Neural Networks
- Data collection / handling / curation / cleaning experience
- Experience working with IC designers
- Excellent communications skills
Our Applications team at SynSense is responsible for developing applications for our low-power ML inference hardware. We build, train, test and deploy ML models; and collect and wrangle data sets.
SynSense has world-leading hardware for ultra-low-power vision processing, aimed at “edge” deployment such as in mobile phone handsets, IoT and smart home devices.
Our vision processing pipeline is based on event-driven CNN architectures. We need ML and CV Engineers to help us design, build and deploy the applications for the next generation of vision processing.
You will be based in our Zürich office in Oerlikon.
SynSense is a small but growing startup, with many young and highly motivated ex-academic employees. We have a very open-minded approach to our work. Your opinions and experience won’t just be highly valued — they will be crucial for us to advance as a company.
We are a highly diverse and international team, and strongly encourage applicants that will increase our diversity. We are an equal-opportunity employer.
In this position you will
- Work with our in-house neuromorphic hardware and a variety of event based cameras to build real-time CV application demonstrators and prototype products
- Collaborate with others in our R&D teams, both in Zürich and in China
- Guide our hardware design engineers in tuning future neuromorphic hardware designs to match application needs
- Write white papers and documentation to communicate your results within SynSense and to clients and investors
- Write a bunch of Python/C++ code
- Collaborate with external research partners, both academic and industrial, to fulfil tasks under externally-funded projects
- Stay up-to-date with current ML and CV trends and research, while designing new sensors and processors
- Have the possibility to travel from time to time, for collaboration or to conferences
This position is for an open-ended full-time contract.
On–site (Zurich), full time, junior/mid level (according to experience)
